Our Mission Statement
The Mid-South Center for Psychodrama and Sociometry is committed to providing quality care to those individuals and groups experiencing difficulties in relationships with others and themselves. Assisting participants in reaching goals that they develop is an integral dynamic of our mission. Providing this care at reasonable financial expense has been and will be a continued goal.
What is Psychodrama & Sociometry?
Psychodrama and Sociometry are the theories at the core of this facilities orientation. Developed by J.L. Moreno, M.D. (1889 - 1974), psychodrama employs guided dramatic action to examine problems or issues raised by an individual or a group. Using experiential methods, sociometry, role theory, and group dynamics, psychodrama facilitates insight, personal growth, and integration at cognitive, affective, and behavioral levels.
Sociometry is the study of relationships in groups. More specifically, it is the study of attractions, neutralities, and rejections between people. Psychodrama without Sociometry is not Psychodrama. It is the foundation upon which Psychodrama rests.

INTEGRATING SOCIOMETRY WITH ACTION
A 2 day training with Ann Hale, TEP at The Mid-South Center for Psychodrama and Sociometry (Tupelo,MS) - July 18-19, 2009
The connections between members of a group are what sustains the group through all the phases from development to closure. Group members need to be on their separate journeys, moving into and out of roles and experience the ways the choices they make in life impact the nearness and distance in their relationships in the groups to which they belong.
Groups have roles they consider to have high value. Who has access to them? Who gets trapped in them? Who is waiting on the sidelines for an opportunity to try out a role?
This workshop is about learning and having practice in a couple of great sociometric tools:
- The Sociometric Cycle (Hale)
- the Diamond of Opposites ( Carlson-Sabelli and Sabelli) .
This will be followed by discussion of ways these tools fit with traditional Morenean sociometric methods and ways they help leaders "take the pulse" of a group. Hopefully we will have an opportunity to experience processing an action segment or personal psychodrama sociometrically.
